Note that nine states with corporal punishment do not report incident data. *Some states expressly prohibit corporal punishment, yet some school districts within these states reported instances of corporal punishment, specifically Illinois, Nevada, New York, Ohio, Washington, Wisconsin and the District of Columbia.
